Necessity

spring is here again
Spring is in the air, but not necessarily in terms of flowers or sunny days. (It’s cold, wet and grey). It’s something else. The way the rain falls after a clear sky, the way dawn erupts earlier, a subtle smell sheltered by clouds. The pores open and the imminence of something becomes perceptible.

In the last stages before submitting my upgrade document. Designing my presentation. Last meeting with supervisors before the end of term and the Easter break went well; the deed is almost done, but just this stage, a humble, simple step, the traveled road reveals a longer path. That my style was described, in parts, as “bloggy” made me smile. Right now it’s only minor edits and leaving out stuff so the chapter is shorter. In general, it’s good this feeling of having done something right.

Really skint as there have not been any paid DJ gigs recently. And I spent more money than I should have when Evelio was here. I’ve spent some time emailing people and sending out proposals and CVs. Something has to come out.

Every act should be considered from the point of view not of its object but of its impulsion. The question is not ‘What is the aim?’ It is ‘What is the origin?’

-Simone Weil, “Necessity and Obedience”, Gravity and Grace

Those who know me know that this is one of my favorite places in Central London. I feel really fortunate to have been there with many of my dearest friends. Monday and Sunday nights are the best. I’ve been wanting to write something about “the blues”, about that quasi-religious experience of the solo and the jam, of how, unlike rock and pop music, the blues is about experience, age and patience.

I’d like to write something as well about weight-lifting (it’s all about Gravity, you may say). But all that will have to wait for a while…

Sí, yo también siento algo en el aire, una especie de locura o l´éternité du hasard. Genial la foto.

con la Primavera dicen que llega el renacimiento… que es tiempo de hacerse piel nueva, de renovarse… buscar la armonia con uno mismo…
