So yesterday I just couldn’t stand the keyboard anymore and left home for a walk. I passed by a bar near mine and there was this free acoustic gig announced. Feeling a bit lost and spiritually-drained, I decided to come in. I went for a JD and coke at the bar. Karin and Gerda were the heavenly vocalists that, accompanied by accomplished guitarists made an otherwise lonely and sad evening into an act of simple beauty. They kept apologizing because their songs were “sad”, but it was surely unnecessary: it was exactly what was required. Their songs had an unpretentious, soulful melancholy that was both accessible and profound. We were less than 10 people in the bar listening to them, but this only emphasized the fact we had just been witnesses of one of those totally unexpected small miracles of everyday London life.
